Icoustic Skill
The Icoustic skill is a small Agent Skills package you give to an AI client (Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT Desktop, and others that support skills or pasted instructions). It teaches the model how Icoustic works — Spaces, libraries, playback, playlists, metadata — and, when MCP is connected on your Mac, how to query your library and stage changes safely for you to approve.
It is not a cloud service. The skill is a set of markdown files. Your AI loads them locally; Icoustic still does not upload your catalog.
Download
- [Download the skill zip](/skills/icoustic.zip) — folder ready to install (
SKILL.md+references/) - Or open `SKILL.md` alone if you only want to paste instructions
What it covers
- Product tutoring: Spaces, roles, library folders, Live Queue, playlists, privacy constraints
- MCP guidance when tools are available: Analyst vs Librarian, propose → review in MCP Actions, tool cheatsheet
- Clear “don’t invent” rules (no cloud sync account, no synchronized multi-room audio, files as truth)
Without MCP, the skill still works as a product tutor. With MCP enabled in Icoustic, the AI can use live library tools instead of guessing.
How to use it
Cursor
- Download icoustic.zip.
- Unpack into
~/.cursor/skills/icoustic/so that folder containsSKILL.mdandreferences/. - Start a chat and ask about Icoustic or your library. If MCP is installed, ask something like “Using Icoustic, how many tracks are in my library?”
Claude
- Download the zip or the `SKILL.md` file.
- Add it as a skill, or attach the folder / file to the project.
- Ask product or library questions as usual.
ChatGPT Desktop
- Open `SKILL.md` (or unpack the zip and open that file).
- Paste it into custom instructions or project files. Skills support varies by client.
- For live library tools, use ChatGPT Desktop with Icoustic MCP installed — not ChatGPT web connectors.
After installing
- For live library access: enable MCP in Icoustic and connect your client — see MCP.
- Prefer Analyst until you want changes; Librarian proposals land in MCP Actions for you to Approve.
- Example asks: library stats, missing years or genres, duplicate candidates, “build a running mix from my 4-star tracks.”
